My Story: A Simple Gift That Opened Big Doors
When I was in optometry school, I had the opportunity to pursue a combined master’s degree. At first, I failed miserably. I almost quit. But God nudged me to try again.
This time, I leaned into my natural gifts—research, organization, and creativity. I created a communication form to connect optometrists with primary care physicians for diabetic patients. I didn’t think much of it at the time.
But here’s the miracle: that simple form ended up being adopted by the American Optometric Association and has been used nationwide for nearly 20 years. One small act of using my gift has impacted thousands of lives.
That’s when Proverbs 18:16 came alive for me:
“A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.”
4 Mistakes That Hold Us Back
So many Christian entrepreneurs and believers stay stuck because of these four mistakes:
- Hiding Your Gifts – treating your talents like hobbies instead of divine keys.
- Waiting for Permission – when God has already appointed you, you don’t need approval from people.
- Chasing Clout Instead of Purpose – influence comes from impact, not likes.
- Doubting What God Already Placed in You – the enemy wants you insecure, but God calls you equipped.
